Aristotle vs John Stuart Mill on Knowledge

Aristotle treats knowledge as the structured grasp of necessary connections, distinguishing scientific knowledge (epistēmē), practical wisdom (phronēsis), and craft (technē) by their objects and methods. Mill, working from the empiricist tradition, treats knowledge as built from observation through inductive generalization, with the canons of induction articulated in his System of Logic. The Aristotelian science of demonstration gives way in Mill to a thoroughgoing inductivism that takes experience as the only source of substantive knowledge.
