Asclepigenia of Athens c. 430 – c. 485

Asclepigenia of Athens (c. 430 – c. 485) was a Greek philosopher of the Ancient era, associated with Platonism.

Asclepigenia of Athens was a fifth-century Greek Neoplatonist philosopher and the daughter of Plutarch of Athens, the head of the Athenian Neoplatonic Academy. Marinus's Life of Proclus identifies her as one of his teacher's principal instructors in the theurgic arts of late Neoplatonism, in which the soul is held to ascend toward the divine through carefully structured ritual and meditative practice. She represents the philosophical and ritual continuity of the Athenian school in the years immediately before its final closure under the emperor Justinian, and through her teaching of Proclus, she stands at the heart of the late pagan philosophical tradition.
