Daya Krishna 1924 – 2007
Daya Krishna (1924 – 2007) was an Indian philosopher of the Contemporary era, associated with Indian Philosophy and Analytic Philosophy.
Daya Krishna was an Indian philosopher and the most influential figure in the post-independence Indian philosophical scene, professor of philosophy at the University of Rajasthan and the founding editor of the Journal of Indian Council of Philosophical Research. His Indian Philosophy: A Counter Perspective challenged the Orientalist habit of treating classical Indian philosophy as a body of finished, religious doctrine and reread the philosophical schools as living traditions of argument. His samvads, or scholarly conversations, between traditional pandits and modern philosophers were one of the most original experiments in twentieth-century Indian intellectual life.
