Epicurus vs Marcus Aurelius on Knowledge

Both philosophers agree that careful natural philosophy dissolves anxieties grounded in superstition, and both write to dispel fear of the gods and of death. They diverge on what natural philosophy delivers: Epicurean atomism teaches that the soul perishes with the body and that the gods are unconcerned with us, while Stoic providentialism teaches that the cosmos is a single rational whole governed by the divine logos.
