Francisco de Vitoria Quotes

Francisco de Vitoria was a Spanish Dominican philosopher, theologian, and jurist and the founder of the School of Salamanca, the great sixteenth-century revival of Thomistic moral and political philosophy. After studies and teaching at Paris, he occupied the prime chair of theology at Salamanca from 1526 until his death and delivered the famous Relectiones, public lectures, on the Indians and on the law of war in which he denied that the Spanish conquest of the Americas could be justified by infidelity, primitiveness, or the right of discovery and developed key principles of the law of nations.
