Petrus Olivi Quotes
Petrus Iohannis Olivi was a French Franciscan philosopher and theologian of the late thirteenth century, the most original and controversial Spiritual Franciscan of his generation, whose insistence on the absolute poverty of Christ and the apostles set him at the center of long disputes within his order and the Latin Church. His Summa Quaestionum on Lombard's Sentences and his many commentaries on Scripture developed an original philosophical theology in which the will is granted explicit primacy over the intellect, and in which the experience of supernatural charity is the integrating principle of human life. The quotes below are attributed to Petrus Olivi, organized by topic.
