Sergei Bulgakov 1871 – 1944

Sergei Nikolaevich Bulgakov was a Russian Orthodox theologian, economist, and religious philosopher. After early career as a Marxist economist, he turned to religious philosophy and became one of the leading Russian thinkers of the religious renaissance of the early twentieth century. Expelled from the Soviet Union in 1922 with the Philosophers' Ship, he settled in Paris and became dean of the St Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute. His major Trilogy on the Lamb of God, the Comforter, and the Bride of the Lamb developed the sophiology of Solovyov into a vast theological system.
