Stilpo of Megara was a Greek philosopher of the Megarian school and one of the most admired philosophical teachers of the early Hellenistic age. He was famed for his ethical self-sufficiency: when Demetrius Poliorcetes sacked Megara in 307 BC and asked Stilpo whether he had lost anything, he is said to have replied that he had lost nothing of his own, for no enemy could carry off his education.
