Swami Vivekananda Quotes on Truth

For Swami Vivekananda, truth is universal, eternal, and the very substance of the soul, and the quotes gathered here express that conviction. His central statement is unambiguous: all truth is eternal, and truth is nobody's property, so that no race and no individual can lay an exclusive claim to it. This universalism underlay his presentation of Vedanta as a religion open to all, and his insistence that genuine religion must be tested against the heart's own recognition of what is true and what is untrue. Vivekananda also held that truth demands strength, for soft-brained, weak-minded, chicken-hearted people cannot find it; the seeker must be free and as broad as the sky. Drawn largely from Pearls of Wisdom, these passages tie the pursuit of truth to courage and to the realisation of the self.

This is the only God that is awake, our own race, everywhere His hands, everywhere His feet, everywhere His ears; He covers everything. . . . The first of all worships is the worship of those all around us. ... He alone serves God who serves all other beings.”
