Will Kymlicka is a Canadian political philosopher, Canada Research Chair in Political Philosophy at Queen's University, and one of the most influential contemporary theorists of multiculturalism and minority rights within the liberal tradition. Liberalism, Community, and Culture and Multicultural Citizenship defended a liberal theory of group-differentiated rights, in which the protection of cultural minorities is understood as a precondition rather than an exception to liberal individualism, while Zoopolis, co-written with Sue Donaldson, extended his theory of citizenship to non-human animals as members of mixed human-animal communities.
